Equipped with state-of-the-art explosion-proof systems, these warehouses will allow us to expand our storage capacity to 3,000 tons of product.

The warehouses will be operated by shuttles capable of retrieving and locating goods at any point within the warehouse using 3D movements. These shuttles will move vertically through the nine levels of the smart warehouse via vertical conveyors.

The movements of the shuttles and conveyors will be controlled by a PLC with specific WMS software for logistical processes in robotized warehouses. They will use advanced algorithms to optimize them through FIFO or LIFO methods. The software is developed for special configurations that allow verification and classification of goods in real time using scanners and clearance control, considering dimensions, risk phrases, and various incompatibilities, efficiently and error-free, storing goods correctly according to regulations regarding Chemical Product Storage and Safety Data Sheets. This system will enable inventory control and execution of picking and replenishment orders, integrating with our factory WMS and ERP, among other functionalities.

At DMG, in this stage of growth, we aim for these warehouses, along with the rest of our facilities, to help us achieve the high standards of safety, health, environmental protection, and quality that our activity requires.

The Moblastop Project has a total budget of 1.17 million euros and will develop a novel method for creating an active greenhouse cover against pests, which will make it possible to avoid the difficulty of incorporating natural repellent polymers in a technically and economically viable way, using bentonites and taking advantage of the properties of these compounds as substance absorbers.

Plants have been shown to have defence mechanisms against pests through substances that they produce themselves which are detected by vector insects due to their volatility. These natural repellents can be incorporated into the polymer so that they are released by it progressively throughout the shelf life of the greenhouse cover.

The MoBlaStop Project designs a consortium made up of three companies ranging from obtaining bentonites of natural origin for their functionalization, extraction, and modification of natural insect repellent substances, to the transformation of plastics through the addition of active substances.

The companies participating in the project are:

Solplast S.A., manufacturer of greenhouse covers,

Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez, S.A., manufacturer of chemical-aromatic substances,

and Clariant Ibérica Producción, S.A., as a company producing natural bentonites.

Likewise, it is being developed in conjunction with the CETEC Technology Centre and the Cajamar-Las Palmerillas Experimental Station:

CETEC, a specialist in plastics in the different facets of its additivation, transformation and analysis, and with wide experience in the participation and management of consortium projects.

Cajamar-Las Palmerillas Experimental Station, a reference technological centre in intensive Mediterranean agriculture, with long experience in crop protection, pests, and post-harvest diseases, and application of molecular techniques for the detection and identification of pathogens and pests.

Three companies and two technology centres will run the LiberCarn Project between 2016-2018, which has been subsidised by the CDTI through the Innterconecta Program 2016, belonging to the Government Program of R&D&i of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and financed jointly with FEDER funds, oriented to the Challenges of the Society for the resolution of the problems and present and future needs of our society.

The LiberCarn Project will develop a system for incorporating natural antimicrobials and antioxidants into clays that will allow to place an active, recyclable, and low-cost container for fresh perishable foods on the market, which will increase the shelf life, quality of packaged food and also improve their safety. While it may be suitable for a wide range of foods, the project will seek to apply and validate the resulting materials and technologies for packaging fresh or processed meat. The project lasts for 27 months, ending in December 2018.

LiberCarn is led by Coopbox Hispania de Lorca, with the participation of two other companies: Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez in Murcia and Portalconsa in O Porriño (Pontevedra), and two technology centres: CETEC (Plastics and Footwear Technology Center) in Alhama de Murcia and CTC (Meat Technology Centre) in Ourense.

The ‘WaterReuse’ project, fully developed in the Region of Murcia, has allowed us to design and build a prototype capable of cleansing wastewater from the chemical and food sectors. This initiative, registered in the European LIFE Programme with a budget of 1,680,000 euros, has been developed by the chemical company Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez in collaboration with the National Technological Centre for the Food and Canning Industry Research Business Association (CTC), integrated into the network of Technology Centres of the Region of Murcia and with which the Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia maintains a collaboration agreement. The aim of this project, which ended on 30th September 2015 after a period of two years of work, has been the reuse of industrial wastewater after a treatment that eliminates contamination, does not generate sludge and minimises the carbon footprint thanks to the use of membrane technology, electrochemistry, and photocatalysis. Thus, the prototype developed under the ‘WaterReuse’ Project has the environmental advantage of not requiring the use of additives or chemical reagents nor adding new pollutants in the treatment process without producing other waste. The operation is automated by a control and data acquisition system that provides information about the process variables and allows to intervene in them at all times. In addition, the prototype generates hydrogen as a by-product, which can be used both as an environmentally sustainable energy vector as a chemical reagent. The carbon footprint of this treatment is non-existing thanks to the use of renewable energy from solar panels connected to the system and the hiring of electricity supply from renewable sources. The results prove the ability of ‘WaterReuse’ to completely remove both suspended solids and dissolved pollution, allowing the reuse of up to 95% of the processed water. The system is particularly effective against effluents which are difficult to treat with traditional biological methods, such as those in which toxic substances are present, and those with too high initial contamination or salinity. As a member of the network of technological centres assigned to the Institute for the Promotion of the Region of Murcia, the National Technological Centre for the Food and Canning Industry Research Business Association receives, on the former’s part, important support for the promotion of research, development and innovation projects like ‘WaterReuse’, an initiative that will be a breakthrough for the Murcian economy thanks to the importance that the chemical and food sectors have in the Region of Murcia.
