Recorded during the pre-commissioning phase of industrial activity in Librilla, the video shows the complete journey of one of our shuttles through the automated warehouse. The footage also shows the system picking up an IBC container at the pallet entry stations and transporting it to its final location on the ninth level of the structure.

What makes this warehouse so special?

• 3D Movement: The system operates using shuttles capable of moving horizontally and vertically—thanks to three elevators—across nine levels. The shuttles cooperate to optimize and coordinate movement within the warehouse.
• Intelligent Management (WMS & PLC): All movement is controlled by dedicated warehouse management software (WMS) that uses FIFO or LIFO methods. It also integrates directly with our factory WMS and ERP systems for a complete traceability.
• Safety and Automatic Classification: Thanks to the use of scanners and height control, the system verifies and classifies goods according to their dimensions, hazard statements, and chemical incompatibilities, strictly complying with the Chemical Storage Regulations.

These new facilities are designed to the highest safety standards of safety, equipped with state-of-the-art explosion-proof systems, and compliant with the ATEX directive. Additionally, this infrastructure allows us to expand our storage capacity to 3,000 pallets. In the future, it will also provide us with greater expansion capacity and interconnectivity with other production units within these facilities.

Today we are sharing a new video showcasing the current state of the facilities, with the office exterior now completed and the main structures fully in place.

Among the most notable advancements is the progress made in installing the intelligent storage system— a key infrastructure designed to optimize logistics and ensure maximum efficiency in product management.

The launch of this automated warehouse will mark the beginning of our industrial operations at the Librilla plant, guaranteeing precise inventory control and optimized space management.

Equipped with state-of-the-art explosion-proof systems, these warehouses will allow us to expand our storage capacity to 3,000 tons of product.

The warehouses will be operated by shuttles capable of retrieving and locating goods at any point within the warehouse using 3D movements. These shuttles will move vertically through the nine levels of the smart warehouse via vertical conveyors.

The movements of the shuttles and conveyors will be controlled by a PLC with specific WMS software for logistical processes in robotized warehouses. They will use advanced algorithms to optimize them through FIFO or LIFO methods. The software is developed for special configurations that allow verification and classification of goods in real time using scanners and clearance control, considering dimensions, risk phrases, and various incompatibilities, efficiently and error-free, storing goods correctly according to regulations regarding Chemical Product Storage and Safety Data Sheets. This system will enable inventory control and execution of picking and replenishment orders, integrating with our factory WMS and ERP, among other functionalities.

At DMG, in this stage of growth, we aim for these warehouses, along with the rest of our facilities, to help us achieve the high standards of safety, health, environmental protection, and quality that our activity requires.

Construction of our catalytic reforming and isomerization plant will begin in the coming months.

Civil works of the new comples are expected to be completed at the end of this year or the beginning of 2024, the date on which the industrial phase will follow up. At this stage, assembly of process equipment and its corresponding utilities will be carried out.

We are delighted to officially share with you through this video a glance to the first outer design of the new offices at our new facilities among many other things.

In addition to the video content is the most recent expansion of the project, a second automated warehouse which will allow us to increase our storage capacity to 3000 tons.

Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez advances in the construction of its new facilities in Librilla (Murcia). Among the last advances in the construction, we can see precast concrete structures with pillars of more than 25 metres (82 feet) and up to 50 tons.

The company will make an investment of 40 million euros in order to respond to the exponential growth that we have been experiencing during the last years.

DMG closed 2020 with sales around 23 million euros, which represents a growth of more than 6% compared to the previous year.

The completion of the civil works of Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez new headquarters, contained in an area of more than 70,000m² (5 times greater than those of the current facilities), is forecasted for 2022. Process facilities and equipment will follow in the same year.

Moving to these facilities will allow us to significantly increase our production, to improve our efficiency as well as safety during our processes through the implementation of a cutting-edge distributed control system.

The new factory will also have an automated warehouse of more than 23 metres (76 feet). This automation will allow to optimise the internal logistics and storage capacity of the facilities while increasing its profitability.

All these innovations will be carried out without leaving behind the most ecological aspect of the company, which will have its own solar panels with an installed self-consumption of 480 kW.

The phase destined to the total building of the industrial units and civil engineering elements is expected to end in 2022, while the phases corresponding to the industrial part of the facilities will extend until 2025.

As explained earlier, the budget for this new factory totals €40M. Of this, around €6M was disbursed during the first twelve months for civil engineering works and machinery acquisition, which are being developed at the Murcia plant.

Regarding the evolution of the company, it should be pointed out that it ended 2020 with sales around €22.9M, which entailed a growth of 6%, and the prospect for this year “is to considerably outweigh the latest billing data despite the pandemic,” he adds. It should also be noted, that 60% of its income comes from foreign sales, whose main markets are Europe, USA, and Asia. As for the fragrance business, which represents 60% of production, it is mostly destined for household and personal care, leaving a minimum percentage for fine perfumery. “This has led to a significant growth in this part of our business due the increased demand for sanitising products for hard surfaces, detergents and hydroalcoholic gels,” says Mr. Muñoz.

Fragrances that connect with emotions

In their quest to offer products that satisfy the new demands and needs of the consumer, at Destilerías Muñoz Gálvez they are working on the development of new fragrances for air fresheners, both for on-premises and domestic channel. “Their purpose is to create fragrances that reinforce self-esteem, optimism, and self-confidence, values especially necessary in this time of uncertainty and restlessness,” he explains. In order to do so, they are working with a wide range of products that provide these emotions. The study is being conducted for its application in different types of settings such as mikados, candles, nebulization systems, ultrasonic air fresheners, hydroalcoholic air fresheners, etc. “In conclusion, our goal is to evoke to the consumer a feeling of positivism and enthusiasm at a reasonable cost given the continuing decline of the economic situation.”

In the chemical product synthesis part, the company continues to work to lower their water and carbon footprints, which begin to be both a legislative and commercial constraint “since the end consumers are increasingly engaged in improving the environment,” Mr. Muñoz concludes. On this matter, the company also announced last year that it was promoting the use of renewable energy in its factory.
